Fearing The Big 30!

I like many other people am dreading the big old THREE-ONE…..30!!!

Anytime I mention this fear to other people, I am always given the same answers –

“Your still so young, what are you worried about?” A friend at work.

“Your thirties are the best years of your life!” My Mum.

“Shut up and stop complaining!” My Lovely Sister 🙂

Yes I understand that it is ony a number and that my life will not change when I actually turn 30. But while growing up I always had 30 as the age that I would have my life sorted out. I always thought that I would have met the man of my dreams by then (Johnny Depp was my man of choice back then) and would of course be married, living in a lovely house and have at least my first baby and perhaps another on the way. And I would travelled the world and ticked off a large number of things on my bucket list.

But now I find myself at 27 and 30 is quickly approaching and I am currently very single, have 0 babies, am still renting and still have a  long list of countries to visit and adventurous things to try.

And it turns out I am not alone with this!!

You don’t have to look far to find fellow Pre-30’ers freaking out about reaching this milestone! Articles, Blog Posts and Memes gallore are everywhere on the internet these days. Just ask this guy….

So what is the solution I hear you ask???

Firstly we need to stop for a moment and just take a deep breath in, and remind ourselves that it is only a number! Your 30th birthday is just another day in your life and instead of dreading it we should embrace it and use it to look back at what we have already accomplished in our lives and what we still have to look forward to in the future.

Instead of plodding along through life as I have been and feeling sorry for myself that I don’t have all the things that I wanted or have done all that I dreamed about, I have decided to use my up-coming 30th birthday to encourage and inspire me now to get out there and experience more of life and do the things I have dreamed about since I was a child.

So here is a list of some of the things that I want to achieve before my 30th Birthday –

  • Do a Skydive
  • Buy my own Home
  • Find my Dream Man (Though I have moved on from Johnny Depp to Chris Pratt now *Drool*)
  • See more of the Beautiful World that we live in – Especially Iceland to see the Northern Lights, Ireland and Canada.
  • Run a Marathan and Raise Money for Charity
  • Go Camping
  • Go to a Festival
  • Have lessons in Martial Arts
  • Do some Volunteering
  • Face my fear of Spiders!!!

I think that is enough to start with!

I will keep you all up to date with my progress working through this list and would love to know what you all think.

What is on you Pre-30 list?? Or if you have already reached 30 how did you feel? Did it feel like such a big deal to you to or was it just another day?

Looking forward to sharing this journey with you all.
